About This Product

The 2026 Australian Kangaroo 1oz Gold Bullion Coin from The Perth Mint is a celebration of national identity and bullion craftsmanship. Featuring two kangaroos leaping across the water, the design captures the spirit of Australia’s rugged landscapes. This edition also pays tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Kangaroo (originally Nugget) coin series, blending heritage and modern security features. As a legal-tender gold coin with a purity of 99.99%, it combines investment appeal with cultural significance.

Reverse Design

The reverse side of the 2026 Kangaroo is particularly striking. Two kangaroos are shown mid-leap across a river, with rippling water beneath their feet and a mountainous horizon beyond. Incorporated into the design is a privy mark with the number “40,” which celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Perth Mint’s Australian Nugget / Kangaroo series. There’s also micro-laser engraving — a tiny letter, only visible under magnification — that adds a subtle but effective layer of security. The mintmark “P” is also present on this side, along with the year and purity.

Obverse Design

On the obverse side of the coin, you’ll find the effigy of King Charles III – the design comes from the artist Dan Thorne, and reflects the current portrait used by The Perth Mint. The inscriptions surrounding the portrait include the face value, reinforcing the coin’s status as legal tender in Australia.
