Compare 2025 Gold Sovereign Prices
Compare live 2025 gold Sovereign prices from trusted UK dealers — current-year British gold across the Sovereign family. 2025-dated Sovereigns carry the Charles III obverse with the standard Pistrucci reverse on bullion issues.
Today's 2025 Sovereign pricing
2025 Sovereign prices track the live gold spot price plus dealer premium. Current-year stock typically commands a modest premium over equivalent back-year Sovereigns, reflecting freshness and presentation rather than any structural difference in metal content or tax position. UK dealer competition on current-year stock is strong; comparing live across multiple dealers regularly surfaces £10-£20 spreads on identical Full Sovereigns.
The Charles III obverse
2025 Sovereigns carry the Charles III obverse effigy by Martin Jennings, used on UK coinage from 2023 onwards. The King faces left, in keeping with the British convention that successive monarchs face opposite directions on coinage (Elizabeth II faced right, Charles III therefore left). The reverse for bullion-grade 2025 issues remains the standard Pistrucci St George dragon design dating to 1817.
Current-year availability
2025-dated Sovereigns are the format with deepest UK dealer stock during 2025-26 trading, as production is currently active rather than drawing on secondary inventory. Full Sovereigns dominate availability; Half Sovereigns are also widely stocked. Quarter and Quintuple sizes from the current year are typically available only through specialist orders or directly from The Royal Mint.
Tax treatment
2025 gold Sovereigns benefit from the same dual exemption that applies to all Royal Mint Sovereigns: VAT-exempt as investment gold under HMRC's specific Sovereign provision, and CGT-exempt as UK legal tender. Year of issue does not affect either treatment.
